Disabling the Meerkat Integration

Tanager includes a full Meerkat integration to provide a fully-featured comment system for your Statamic site. However, you may remove the Meerkat features from your site so that you can use Tanager without Meerkat (a valid license key is required to use Meerkat on a live site).

Removing Meerkat from the Blog Footer

To disable the Meerkat integration, locate the /site/themes/tanager/partials/article-footer.html file. At the time of writing, the contents of this file were:

{{ partial:meerkat/comments }}

<footer class="list article__footer">
    <div class="container">
        <div class="col-md-12">
            <h6>Next Up <em>on the</em> Blog</h6>
            <article class="list">
                <div class="row">
                    {{ collection:next in="blog" limit="2" scope="tag" url:not="{url}" }}
                        <div class="col-md-6">
                            {{ partial:block }}
                        </div>
                    {{ /collection:next }}
                </div>
            </article>
        </div>
    </div>
</footer>

To disable the Meerkat integration, simply remove the {{ partial:meerkat/comments }} line at the top of the file. You can add this back at any time if you would like to re-enable the Meerkat integration.

Removing Meerkat from the Site Layout

To remove Meerkat from the site layout, locate the /site/themes/tanager/layouts/default.html. At the bottom of the file, remove the {{ meerkat:replies-to }} tag. The Meerkat JavaScript integration that ships with the Tanager theme will detect that you have removed this tag and automatically disable itself.
